Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 8, 2026

1. Who We Are

My Golf Insights ("we", "us", or "our") is a golf scoring and coaching application operated by TMY Holdings, LLC. We can be contacted at [email protected].

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how it is stored and protected, and what rights you have over it. It applies to the website at mygolfinsights.com, the Progressive Web App (PWA), and the access code registration system.

2. The Short Version

Your golf data — rounds, scores, stats, courses, notes — stays on your device. We never see it. When you register for an access code, we collect your name and email address so we can issue your code and contact you about the Service. We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising trackers. We do not use Google Analytics.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

All golf data you enter into the App is stored exclusively in your device's browser storage (IndexedDB and localStorage). This includes:

This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly export it using the CSV export feature. We have no access to, and cannot recover, data stored on your device.

You can delete this data at any time by clearing the App's site data in your browser settings or by uninstalling the App.

Note on player names: The player profile names you create inside the App (used to label your scoring profiles) are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to us or to any third party. They are entirely separate from the first and last name you provide during access code registration (see Section 4), which is the only name we hold on our servers.

4. Data We Collect — Registration and Access

When you register for an access code at mygolfinsights.com/get-access, we collect:

When you join our waitlist without registering, we collect your email address and optionally your first name.

4a. Aggregate Service Usage Metadata

To operate the Service reliably and measure product health, we record minimal activity metadata each time the App contacts our servers. This is metadata about your use of the Service — not about the rounds you score. Specifically, we record:

None of this aggregate metadata includes the contents of your scorecard. Your round detail — scores, putts, fairway hits, approach results, clubs, GPS coordinates, notes — stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

5. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

6. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing your personal data are:

7. GPS and Location Data

The App may request access to your device's GPS to enable two features: finding nearby golf courses ("Find Nearby Courses") and measuring distance to the green ("Set Green Distance"). GPS is accessed only when you explicitly initiate one of these features. Your location coordinates are used only to query the OpenStreetMap database for nearby courses or calculate distance — they are never stored on our servers or transmitted beyond that query.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

The App does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. The App uses browser localStorage and IndexedDB to store your golf data and preferences locally on your device. These are not cookies — they are local storage mechanisms that remain under your control and are never read by us.

The Website may use a functional session cookie if you are logged into an account. This cookie does not contain personal data beyond a session identifier.

9. Analytics

We use Google Analytics (provided by Google LLC) to measure website traffic and understand how visitors find and use this website. Google Analytics collects data such as page views, session duration, approximate geographic location (country/region), and device type. This data is processed by Google LLC and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not use Google Analytics remarketing features or share Analytics data with advertising networks. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google Analytics is used on the marketing website (mygolfinsights.com) only. The App itself does not use Google Analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party analytics SDKs. The App does communicate with our own servers for the operational purposes described in Section 4a (activation checks, free-tier round counting, signup attribution), but this communication is between you and us only — no third-party analytics provider is involved.

10. Data Processors and Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service. Each acts as a data processor on our behalf:

We do not share your personal data with any other third parties. We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, or any advertising network.

11. Data Retention

We retain your registration data (name, email, terms record, activation history) for as long as your access code remains active or until you request deletion — whichever comes first. If the Service is discontinued, we will delete all registration data within 90 days.

Email addresses added to our waitlist are retained until you unsubscribe. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.

Cloudflare server access logs (IP address) are retained according to Cloudflare's standard log retention policy, which is outside our control.

12. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data:

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable measures to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. International Data Transfers

My Golf Insights is operated from the United States. Our infrastructure (Cloudflare) may store and process data in data centres globally. By using the Service, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including countries that may have different data protection laws.

Where required by applicable law (such as GDPR), we rely on Cloudflare's standard contractual clauses and data processing agreements to safeguard international transfers.

14. US Privacy Compliance

My Golf Insights is operated from Wisconsin, United States. We comply with applicable US federal and state privacy laws, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) — we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell personal data). To exercise any CCPA rights, contact us at [email protected].

15. Your Rights (All Users)

Regardless of your location, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

16. Children

My Golf Insights is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify registered users by email. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

18. Contact and Complaints

For privacy questions, data requests, or complaints: [email protected]

If you are a California resident and wish to exercise CCPA rights, or if you are an EEA/UK resident and wish to lodge a GDPR complaint with your local supervisory authority, please contact us first at the email above and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are an EEA resident and believe we have breached GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
